New roller skater learning how to turn during a skate lesson Burgess Park

Roller Skate Foundations

These classes are aimed at beginner to intermediate skaters who want to build their confidence in their skating by focusing on the foundations as well as looking at some dance and jam skate essentials. Working through key principles like bodyweight placement, edges and feet positioning.

These classes are not suitable for complete beginners putting on their skates for the first time. If this is your first time skating, then I recommend initially doing a Level 1 course with a provider like Roll Happy or Leon (aka Landshark Skating), who can get you up and running. They both offer a range of dates and locations.

In my Foundations class, most students have done some skating before. Skaters wanting to attend should be able to move forward and slow down. Your technique doesn’t need to be perfect, as we’ll work on this in class, but you should be able to stand up and move forward.

If you are still deciding if the class is suitable, contact me or come by for a single drop-in session to see how you get on.

Increase your move repertoire, smooth out your flow and learn how to combine moves. Work towards more advanced moves and transitions,  understanding foot positioning, body weight and edges for seamless, smooth skating.

Each week we'll be working through popular skate moves and well as unique combinations.

Practice Hours

Weekly supported jam skate sessions to get some valuable time and space to practice. These are not formal lessons but a space to practice with an experienced skate coach present to give you tips and reminders and an opportunity for you to refine your roller skate dance moves and work through plateaus.

If you are a brand new roller skater I would recommend first taking at least a few lessons or a beginners skate course to give you the foundations before attending this session.
