Roller Skate Foundations - Drop In Classes - Decathlon Surrey Quays
Roller Skate Foundations - Drop In Classes - Decathlon Surrey Quays
Level of course Beginners --> Intermediate
Drop in on our Roller Skate Foundations classes to revise the foundational principles, build confidence in your skating, and develop a strong base to grow. Each session is 1.5 hours, giving you lots of time to practice and feedback to be provided. Group sizes are small for maximum learning. We will cover core principles of balancing, stopping, turning, edges and backwards skating.
Unfortunately, this course is unsuitable for a complete beginner who is putting on skates for the first time. It's for those with some skating experience who want to improve their confidence and technique.
If you are a brand-new skater putting on your skates for the first time, I recommend initially doing a Level 1 course with a provider like Roll Happy or Leon (aka Landshark Skating), who can get you up and running. They both offer a range of dates and locations.
In my Foundations class, most students have done some skating before. Skaters wanting to attend should be able to move forward and slow down. Your technique doesn’t need to be perfect, as we’ll work on this in class, but you should be able to stand up and move forward.
If you are still deciding if the class is suitable, contact me or come by for a single drop-in session to see how you get on.

Protective Gear
Protective wrist guards and knee pads are advised for your safety while learning. Helmets are elbow pads if you want extra protection.
Toe stops or Jam plugs
Toe stops or Jam plugs are required to protect the floor. Although Jam plugs are advised for the type of skating we will be learning as it gives you more room to move your feet. However newer skaters are often more confident starting out with the stoppers so please wear whichever you feel confident with.
Clothing
Please also wear clothes that you are comfortable skating in and allow freedom of movement.
